Accrued Benefits

Also commonly called Accrued Rights, this term refers to the amount of pension benefits the employee is entitled to. These pension benefits are based on the number of years that an employee has work for their employer. Accrued benefits only apply to employees that are members of defined benefits pension schemes, such as final salary schemes. Accrued benefits are determined under the rules of the defined benefit scheme and are usually based on the employees salary and length of service/membership (see qualifying years and pensionable service).
